Music 101

Music in the SCA creates a wonderful atmosphere at events. Whether you have a history in music or you are just beginning to take an interest there is a place for you!

While some musicians prefer to preform period peices (music written between 600 and 1600 A.D) others compose music or sing “filks” – words about the SCA set to exsiting music. If you want to hear an example of period music you are more likely to hear that in competitions, if you are interested in any other type look for a bardic circle or attend a post revel.

Musicians love to play with others, so join in

Music Within The Barony

Mag Mor has an informal music group made up mostly of singers. They meet some Thursday nights at 7:30 pm in the home of Graf Volkmar Katzbalger and Isadora. To know which nights are scheduled, check the calendar below (or contact the head of the music guild by clicking on her name below.) The group sings at local events and demos.

If you would like to know more about music or if you’re curious about what we’re working on, you can contact either Graf Volkmar Katzbalger or the head of the music guild Mistress Gwyneth Espicier.
